The Story
I’m Andrea Mathews, travel advisor and founder of Travel Kindred. I started Travel Kindred in 2018 because I believe travel is better when shared with the people who matter most – your kindred spirits. Whether that’s solo adventures discovering who you are, girls trips creating lifelong memories, getaways with a partner that deepen your connection, or multi-generational journeys celebrating family, the best trips are the ones that bring us closer to ourselves and the people we love.
For years, I wrote destination guides and shared travel tips from my own adventures. But as Travel Kindred grew, so did the requests: “Can you help me plan this?” That led me to become a Virtuoso travel advisor. Now I don’t just write about travel – I plan it, too.
The Experience
I’ve explored 45+ countries across six continents and lived in Costa Rica, Spain, England, and Italy. That personal experience shapes everything I create – from the blog posts I write to the trips I design. I know what it feels like to navigate a foreign train station, find the perfect neighborhood trattoria, and stand in awe at a destination you’ve dreamed about for years.
Before launching Travel Kindred, I spent 20+ years in marketing and customer experience leadership at companies like Caesars Entertainment, REI, and Petco. That background taught me how to plan meticulously, anticipate needs, and create experiences that exceed expectations – skills I bring to every trip I design.
