Seven nights aboard AMA Waterways’ AmaReina

I get asked this more than almost anything else: “can I come with you sometime?” So I finally said yes, and you all said yes right back. Six cabins booked in our group, and the ship sold out.

I’ve wanted to do a Christmas market river cruise for years, and I’m finally doing it, sailing the Danube from Budapest to Nuremberg on the AmaReina. Every stop has its own market. Budapest’s Vörösmarty Square. Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace market and the Rathaus market downtown. The Wachau Valley and Melk Abbey. Passau. Regensburg’s market at Thurn and Taxis Castle. Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt, the oldest and largest Christmas market in Germany.

I’m hosting this as a group, which gets you a discount on top of whatever AmaWaterways has running, plus me handling the parts of booking a river cruise that nobody enjoys. Cabin selection. Deposit tracking. The questions you don’t know to ask yet.

How does the waitlist work?

Add your name and I’ll reach out if a cabin opens up. Joining doesn’t commit you to anything. If a spot comes through, I’ll share what’s available and the current pricing, and you can decide then.

How long do I have to decide?

You have as long as the ship has availability. But heads up, Christmas Market cruises sell out fast, and some cabin types are already sold out for this sailing. There’s also incentive to book soon as you’ll benefit from AMA’s Anniversary discount. Your best bet? Hold your spot with a deposit so your room doesn’t get away from you.

How do I hold my spot?

There is standard cabin deposit is $400pp, 50% nonrefundable. That’s all you need to hold your spot.

I’m a solo traveler. Can I still go?

Absolutely! If you prefer your own cabin, a single supplement applies, 50% of the double occupancy fare, or 100% for Suites, A+, and AA+. If you’re open to sharing a cabin, let me know and I can try to pair you with another solo traveler.

Are flights included?

Flights are not included, but I’m happy to help book them for you.

When is final payment due?

Final payment is due September 9, 2027

Do you recommend extending my trip?

Yes! AMA Waterways offers pre-cruise time in Budapest (2 nights) and post-cruise time in Prague (3 nights). Ask me for details once you’re ready to book.
