BodyHoliday St. Lucia: What I Wish I’d Known Before I Went (An Honest Review)

BodyHoliday St. Lucia Review amazing beach and views

There I am, soaring hundreds of feet above the ground, looking down at this tropical island getting smaller below me, already planning my return trip. It was my first time in a helicopter, my first time to St. Lucia, but it won’t be my last. This is my honest BodyHoliday St. Lucia review, including all the things I wish I knew before I went (spoiler alert, it was phenomenal.)

BodyHoliday St. Lucia review helicopter ride

But let me back up. This trip started as a long wellness resort weekend in April 2026 with a friend, our third annual trip. Unfortunately duties called and she couldn’t go due to work. I was faced with a choice – cancel my trip or go solo. You know I love a solo trip and I was excited to see the island and the resort, so solo it was.

As I walked the lush grounds of the resort, from their liquid blue pool overlooking the beach, up to their stunning hillside spa with 180 degree views, I saw people in every vacay vibe – reading, drinking, exercising, spa’ing – and realized this wasn’t like any all-inclusive I’d been to.

Here I’ll share what I learned, when to go, what it’s like solo, and because I had the pleasure of traveling as a Virtuoso travel advisor, what extra love you get with Virtuoso in your corner. By the end of the article, you’ll be having St. Lucia dreams, like I still do.

What Is BodyHoliday – And Is It Your Kind of Resort?

BodyHoliday St. Lucia review with seaside views of the Caribbean

BodyHoliday St. Lucia is an all-inclusive wellness resort on Cariblue Beach in northern St. Lucia. Your room rate covers one daily spa treatment, all group fitness classes, meals, alcohol, and most water sports – with zero pressure to do any of it.

The resort is built around four pillars: relaxation, therapeutic treatments, activity, and nutrition. That’s part of what makes it different from your standard all-inclusive. The spa treatment isn’t an add-on, it’s the foundation of your stay. The food quality is also top-notch, with several dining options and even their own farm-to-table restaurant.

And unlike Miraval or Canyon Ranch, alcohol (and quality alcohol) is included as well. I found BodyHoliday to be more elevated and intentional than Club Med, without the entertainment-team-in-your-face energy.  There were parties each evening, and several nights ended gathered around a piano bar, but it was a bit more ‘grown’ compared to my Club Med experience.

At the same time, it’s less serious and more cost-effective than Miraval. You can come here and drink rum punch on the beach all week without feeling judged, or do wellness activities from sunup to sundown. Regardless of your choice, you won’t feel out-of-place either way. BodyHoliday offers that sweet spot for women who want wellness options without a wellness mandate. And unlike most all-inclusives, you’ll never be racing for a beach chair at 7am. There are always plenty.

It works beautifully for solo travelers, couples with different energy levels, girlfriends with mixed agendas, and multi-gen groups. There really is a lane for everyone here.

What are Rooms Like?

Ocean view room for my BodyHoliday St. Lucia review

I had booked a Garden View room, but I was upgraded on arrival, thanks to Virtuoso perks, and had a lovely ocean view room. It was comfortable, well-appointed, and exactly what I needed. They even included a bottle of champagne and personalized notes to enhance my stay. Each evening there were cookies and tea for turn-down services, making it a wonderful respite between all the activity.

They have a variety of rooms available, and take it from me – the upgraded suites are what travel dreams are made of (butler service included). They even have a couple of villas if your group wants to stay together. Perched up on the hillside with their own private pools, it’s like you are in your own piece of paradise.

Who Goes to BodyHoliday?

Walking through the gardens at BodyHoliday St. Lucia review

BodyHoliday attracts a range of people, which is nice to see. There are couples, women traveling together, and maybe not surprisingly, a large solo traveler population (of both men and women). BodyHoliday has a 50%+ return rate, which I honestly felt the minute I arrived. You could tell who the regulars were. They knew the staff by name, the BodyGuards by nickname, and exactly how to optimize their schedule each day (and they were kind enough to teach me their ways.)

The vibe is also shaped by the fact that kids aren’t allowed most of the year (except in summer, when children 12 and up are welcome.) This adds to the serene scene of the resort, making it feel more grown-up.

Getting to BodyHoliday St. Lucia (And What Nobody Tells You About the Journey)

Seaside towns in St. Lucia

Getting to BodyHoliday means flying into one of two St. Lucia airports, then choosing between a car transfer (~80+ minutes of winding roads), a ferry, or a helicopter. The helicopter isn’t just transportation – it’s an experience.

The main airport is UVF (Hewanorra International) and has more international connections. SLU is closer to the BodyHoliday but has fewer flight options. I’ve heard you may be able to connect through another Caribbean island to fly into SLU, the closer airport. It’s worth asking your travel advisor about when routing from the West Coast.

How treacherous your trip is depends on where you are coming from. Those from Toronto, New York, and even Atlanta had direct flights that were only 4-6 hours. For those of us on the West Coast, it’s a different story. San Diego to St. Lucia was quite the journey. On the way I took a redeye and transferred in Atlanta, and on the way back had to overnight in Atlanta due to flight times. Don’t get me wrong – it was still worth it. It’s more about how much time you allow yourself to have after all that travel. If you’re traveling from the West Coast, I’d highly recommend staying at least a week to maximize your time on the ground.

Getting to the Resort from the Airport

View of the Pitons in St. Lucia on my way to BodyHoliday on the ferry

Once I made it to St. Lucia, I could choose between land, air and sea to get to the resort. I chose by sea on the way to BodyHoliday, and by air when I left. Taking the ferry in was a great way to get out on the Caribbean, see the famous Pitons up close, and just relax, White Lotus style. Drinks, music, and a little dancing was exactly what was needed to fully activate vacay mode.

The helicopter on the way back was also surreal. You get an amazing view of the island, both the coast and the lush interior. If you’re lucky like I was, you may also get to experience what flying through a little storm feels like – all I can say is EEK and thank you, Mr. Pilot. That extra bit of adventure aside, I’d recommend giving it a go at least once to get a different experience.

How Long Should You Stay?

Sunset view from my room at BodyHoliday St. Lucia review

For me, three full days felt short. I had just adjusted and then had to leave again. If you’re from the West Coast, give it a week.

Part of why it felt short is there is so much to do. I would have gone off property for a Pitons hike (the resort offers it), would have been able to do more activities (some are only offered on certain days), and would have had more time to be in pure vacay mode. That’s one lesson learned for next time.

How to Plan Your BodyHoliday – The Lessons That Made All the Difference

Spa at BodyHoliday has amazing views

Pre-booking your restaurant reservations, spa appointments, and a health consultation before you arrive makes the difference between a good trip and a great one. I booked these ahead of time but once I saw the schedule I wanted to make changes, and I stressed myself out over the schedule on day one. With some helpful tips you’ll be able to avoid this for yourself, allowing you to just show up and enjoy.

Do These Two Things on Day One

Before you touch the activity chalkboard or commit to adds to your spa schedule, do both of these (and pre-book them before you arrive):

Tried the Ayurveda Spa for my BodyHoliday St. Lucia review
  1. The Health Consultation: The wellness team assesses where you are physically – think fatigue, tension, stress patterns, goals – and creates a treatment roadmap for your stay. This is how you discover things like the Ayurvedic offerings at Pavitra that aren’t obvious from the brochure. This is also a complimentary Virtuoso perk (30 minutes, once per stay), so if you’re booking through a Virtuoso advisor, this one is already covered.
  2. The Ayurvedic Consultation: Separate from the general health consult, this is a personalized Ayurvedic assessment that determines which treatments will actually serve your body type and needs. They assess your dosha (your Ayurvedic body type) and build a personalized treatment plan around it. The menus at all restaurants even have little dosha icons next to dishes so you can eat for your type. It sounds a little woo woo, but that’s kind of my thing. Regardless of how closely you follow it, the knowledge can really change how you approach the rest of your stay.

If you skip this and just book from the spa menu, you’re guessing. These in-person assessments go deeper than the online questionnaires, and also come with personalized recommendations. Together, these two consultations turn a generic spa schedule into a personal wellness plan. Do them first, then build your days around what comes out of them.

Pro Tip

Day 1 Priority: Before you touch the activity schedule, book your Health Consultation and Ayurvedic Consultation. These two sessions will shape your entire spa plan, and the Wellness Clinic consult is a complimentary Virtuoso perk if you’ve booked through an advisor.

Book TAO, I-TAL and the Sunset Cruise Before You Leave Home

TAO

Tried fresh sushi at Tao for my BodyHoliday St. Lucia review

TAO, the resort’s delicious Asian-fusion restaurant, fills up fast. Walk-ins essentially don’t exist. Book via the online Webroom or email their team before you arrive. I did this and had an amazing meal my first evening, while others were surprised I could even get in. I loved it so much I wanted to go back and had difficulties getting in myself. Luckily they offer communal tables for solo travelers, and while that was also full, I showed up on the off chance that someone else wouldn’t, and luck was on my side. It turned out to be a great way to connect with other people and make some friends while there.

I-TAL

Amazing table at I-TAL up on the hill above the BodyHoliday

Another thing to pre-book is I-TAL, their farm-to-table restaurant. They offer lunch and dinner options on certain days, and it’s limited to one table of diners. I had reservations for lunch but it didn’t hit the minimum number of people (4), so that was canceled and I was able to do dinner instead. With limited capacity, it’s best to book ahead and not risk it. This communal dining experience also was a great way to meet people. I had lovely dining companions and some of us ended up kayaking and snorkeling together later in the trip. You start to build this camaraderie, this community, that feels warm, familiar, and nurturing. It’s likely one reason people keep coming back to BodyHoliday time and time again.

Sunset Cruise

Tables at Pavilion Grill, another restaurant I tried for my BodyHoliday St. Lucia review

On Friday nights BodyHoliday offers a sunset cruise, so this is another one you will want to book ahead. It didn’t seem like people had too much trouble booking the day of, but it did cause a lot of spa treatment adjustments as some people didn’t realize it was happening until they arrived (myself included). Book it ahead of time and you can make sure there’s no conflicts with your treatment schedule. Even better, if you book through a Virtuoso advisor, the Friday Sunset Cruise is a complimentary perk, meaning one less thing for you to chase down.

The Spa Booking Mistake – And How to Avoid It

Treatment room at BodyHoliday spa

Book your spa treatments between 11am and 2pm. Here’s why it matters.

One beauty of BodyHoliday is that you get one complimentary 50-minute treatment per full day. Compare that to other wellness retreats where those are all extra, and it’s an amazing addition. Make the most of it. Don’t waste the slot. Free treatments include choices of massages, body wraps, and facials. I had a little blip in my planning, and now that I know the activity schedule and spa treatments, you can learn from my mistake.

  • The mistake: I booked treatments at 4pm thinking it left mornings free, and time to get ready before dinner. What I didn’t realize was that it also blocked the best afternoon sessions (eg, aqua fit at 3:15, sunset yoga at 5pm, beach volleyball at 5pm.) I had major FOMO.
  • The fix: Book treatments between 11am-1pm or 2pm at the latest. The spa closes for lunch 1-2pm, so you could use 2-4pm as your beach/pool window. Then you have mornings and late afternoons for activities, and midday for lounging.

Pro Tip

Spa Timing: Book treatments between 11am-1pm or 2pm at the latest. The spa goes dark for lunch 1-2pm, so use that as your beach window. Afternoon treatments conflict with the best late-day activities.

Don’t Miss Georgia

One of three pools I reviewed at BodyHoliday resort

Georgia is a reflexologist who has been at BodyHoliday for years. She can identify every tension point and imbalance in your body through your feet alone. I learned about her through other guests at the resort who were raving about her skills, so I had to give it a go. It was extra, but at only $95, it was quite a bargain.

She was so lovely, and identified every quirk and ailment in my body without being told anything, and gave me tips on how to keep it up at home. My advice? Book her. Full stop. You won’t regret it.

Use the Webroom App

Edible plants and herbs collected on our garden tour at BodyHoliday

Initially I didn’t have access to the online booking system, so I was corresponding with their reservation concierge. That worked well, but it is nice to be able to adjust your own schedule. It was still a bit finicky when I got access, so I continued to pop down to the concierge to adjust my schedule, and the spa prefers you make adjustments directly there, so that’s what I did.

It was nice to have the app and see your reservations, though, as there is so much goodness happening it’s hard to keep straight! Whether through the app or emailing their concierge, pre-book the spa, restaurants, and any offsite activities. Once you’re there, browse the daily activity schedule, and get an idea of what you want to do.

The activity schedule changes daily. It’s a pre-made plan that gives you a framework to adjust from. Be sure to look at each day and pick your must-dos. For example, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking trip was only offered one day while I was there, so I made sure to sign up for that.

Pro Tip

Book TAO before you travel and your spa midday. Those two moves alone will save you from spending your first full day reorganizing everything, like I did.

What to Do at BodyHoliday St. Lucia – Without Getting Overwhelmed

BodyHoliday resort activity board

BodyHoliday’s activity schedule runs from 7am to 6pm and covers fitness, mindfulness, water sports, cultural experiences, social events, and more. The hardest part isn’t finding something you like. It’s actually choosing what to do.

The paradox of choice is real, so know your priorities and the vibe you’re going for (fitness vs. mindfulness vs. water vs. social) before you arrive. That said, it’s ok to shift while you’re there. I went in thinking I would be all fitness all day, and once I arrived, my body was craving a more relaxed vacation. That meant yoga or meditation in the morning, spa midday, beach and water activities in the afternoon, and dining with some socializing in the evening.

As I mentioned earlier, the activity schedule tends to be morning-heavy and late afternoon-heavy; with a quieter midday. It makes sense as it’s warmer then, and leaves you time for spa, beach time, or nap time. The choice is yours.

And choice there really is. There’s such a breadth of offerings for every type of traveler. Yoga, spin, and aqua fit are there, but so are archery, a knots and seamanship workshop, painting with a local artist, and a running club that takes you along the Atlantic coast.

Activities Offered at BodyHoliday

Fitness: pilates, spin, aqua fit, archery, tennis mix-ins, pickleball, golf lessons, a running club, hiking, beach volleyball
Relaxation: yoga, meditation, breathwork
Water sports: kayaking, snorkel tours, scuba, sailing, hobie cat
Art + Culture: painting, journaling, cooking

This is just a sampling. Several other areas are covered. Specific schedule changes week to week, so be sure to look at the schedule for your stay.

The list goes on and on. These are led by what the resort calls BodyGuards – the fitness team who lead classes and who you can even dine with at the communal breakfast if you so choose. They’re a big part of the social glue, and you see return guests connecting with their favorite BodyGuards.

Travel Advisor Tip

Booking with a travel advisor means Virtuoso perks like one complimentary 30-minute fitness session (tennis or golf), giving you extra incentive to try that new activity or get some pro tips on what you already love.

The Activities You Shouldn’t Miss

All of the activities I tried were fantastic, but there were a few standouts:

Must-Do Activities

Me kayaking at BodyHoliday
Kayak and paddle board trip – you can check these out any time on your own but you have to stay in the bay. With the guided tour, we went farther out, down a few beaches and back. It was a great way to get out on the Caribbean and get a good water and exercise combo.
Sunset yoga on Reefside Deck – the location is phenomenal, and feels like you are floating on the water. It’s so peaceful, with the sea breeze blowing over you and the soothing voice of the yoga instructor tickling your ears
Friday Sunset Cruise – another perk that is complimentary with Virtuoso. Not only do you get out on the water, but you will meet other travelers. A lot of people I met had connected on the cruise and hung out the rest of the trip.
Amazing yoga deck at BodyHoliday St. Lucia
Friday night beach BBQ with fire dancers and live music – the cruise is followed by a beach BBQ, where you can enjoy great food, ambience, and keep the party going.
I-TAL dinner – another unique dining experience that you won’t get anywhere else, with unmatched views. Space is limited, so lock it in early.
Snorkeling – you can check out complimentary snorkeling gear at any time. We just headed out from the beach, and there were quite a few fish all around the dock. We even saw snorkel tours coming to this spot, which made us feel pretty lucky to be staying there. A great adventure without a lot of effort!

Dining at BodyHoliday – Better Than Any All-Inclusive You’ve Been To

BodyHoliday’s food is genuinely good. Not “good for an all-inclusive”, but legitimate quality food. Each restaurant has a distinct identity and the quality holds across all of them.

The Restaurants

Tablescape and a view at I-TAL, a restaurant I visited for my St. Lucia BodyHoliday resort review
  • Cariblue: Main restaurant – the breakfast buffet is excellent, good for lunch, solid international dinner with different menus each evening. This was my go-to for breakfast and lunch most days.
  • TAO: East-West fusion tasting menu with wine pairings. The best dinner on property. Book it. If you get shut out, try out the communal table strategy. It was so good I went twice.
  • I-TAL: Farm-to-table from the resort’s own organic garden, served on the hillside after a garden walk. It’s an event, not just a meal. Note: I-TAL requires a minimum of four diners and will cancel if attendance is short. I found out the hard way – booked for lunch, got bumped. Dinner ended up being the better experience anyway, but book early and be flexible.
  • Pavilion Grill: Casual, outdoor on the beach with candles. It’s a relaxed but elevated evening ambiance. I loved this for evenings. Sunday roast night is the best – very British but enough variety for anyone (that says something coming from someone who doesn’t eat meat.)
  • Caribou Windows: Serves one set menu each evening with wine pairings. Each night is different, but you can see menus ahead of time to choose what you like best. I didn’t try this as a set menu is hard for a particular eater like me (I-TAL was my one risk there), but those who I spoke to who went really enjoyed it.
  • Wellness Cafe: Great first-morning option or if you’re running between activities. It has lighter, health-forward options, and a large list of smoothies.

Pro Tip

TAO Strategy: TAO fills up. Book it in your Webroom before you fly. If you get shut out, show up at the communal table anyway and put your name on the standby list. It worked for me.

The Communal Table Strategy

Ginger martini at the piano bar at BodyHoliday St. Lucia is a must-try

The communal table is a designated section for solo travelers to dine together at select times, and is a great concept for solo travelers. As I learned, it does book up. But show up anyway and put your name on the standby list, and you may luck out like I did.

When I went, I met people who informed me of the white party happening that evening at the Clubhouse (I was clueless). Fortunately, I had arrived in blue and white by pure coincidence, and got swept into a fun evening I didn’t plan for. White party followed by piano bar shenanigans made for an eventful vacation evening!

Pro Tip

If you’re solo, I’d recommend trying at least one communal table. Showing up to a table of strangers may seem more intimidating than traveling solo, but once I got past the social anxiety it was a nice way to meet people and build connections while there.

The Drinks

Drinks like the mojito are made fresh with premium ingredients at BodyHoliday St. Lucia

Another aspect of the elevated experience is the drinks. This is not watered-down all-inclusive alcohol. The cocktails are good, the wine list is real. They even have a huge wine cellar with a great selection to choose from.

The piano bar also has its own cocktail menu. It opens at 7pm nightly, and stays open as long as guests want to stay. And the ginger martini at the piano bar? Do yourself a favor and order one.

Solo Travel at BodyHoliday – This Resort Gets It Right

Finding a beach chair at BodyHoliday St. Lucia is easy at any time of day

BodyHoliday is one of the best resort options in the Caribbean for solo female travelers – not as an afterthought, but by design.

Maybe not surprisingly, there was a large solo traveler population of both women and men, and the culture reflects that. You can easily do a table for one and not feel awkward, or join with others. There’s no judging either way. The beauty is that both solo time and social time feel natural here. The resort enables both without forcing either.

If you’re open to some socializing, the resort makes it easy. There are communal tables, a Friday sunset cruise, a Friday BBQ, themed nights, and the piano bar, which has a way of drawing people in whether you plan on it or not.

BodyHoliday even has Solo September, a month dedicated for solo travelers with hosted dinners, cocktail parties, sunset cruises, group excursions. Book this month if you’re on the fence about going solo.

Pro Tip

Ask at check-in what theme nights are happening during your stay, or better yet, ahead of your trip. If there is a white party or other theme, you can pack for it instead of lucking into it like I did.

Practical Details – Rates, Perks, and How to Book Smart

Booking BodyHoliday St. Lucia with a Virtuoso advisor means extra perks

One thing that stands out in any BodyHoliday St. Lucia review is the value. BodyHoliday’s rates include far more than most all-inclusives. That’s because it’s not really in the ‘all-inclusive’ category. I’d frame it more as a resort with everything included. And if you book through a Virtuoso travel advisor, you get a significant stack of additional amenities at no extra cost.

When to Go

Kayaking and paddle boarding is available at BodyHoliday St. Lucia review
  • Timing: St. Lucia has great weather most of the year, with the dry season, running roughly December through May, being the most popular. That said, even during hurricane season (June–November), St. Lucia sits further south than many Caribbean islands and tends to avoid the worst of it,  so don’t automatically rule out those months, especially if you’re chasing a lower rate.
  • Theme Months: If you’re passionate about a certain activity, you may find a month made for you. They have several theme months, where they bring in professional and Olympic athlete instructors so you get top-notch classes:
    • Spring Sail (March-April): sailing-focused, great for outdoor enthusiasts
    • June Jive: dance programming, like salsa, tango, and merengue
    • September Solos: ideal for solo travelers. All programming is designed around solo guests
    • Octoba Yoga: yoga immersion for all levels
    • WellFit Tribes (July-August): family-focused, great for multi-gen trips, the time when children 12+ are allowed

Rates and What’s Included

Fire at sunset at BodyHoliday St. Lucia

Rates vary depending on when you go, but on average start around $676/night single occupancy, $888/night double. Check thebodyholiday.com for current pricing as it fluctuates, and your travel advisor can often find package pricing not available direct.

If that sounds like a lot, stop and consider all that is included.

  • Included: daily spa treatment (easily $300+ at another resort), all group fitness classes, all meals, premium alcohol, most water sports, golf lessons, sailing, scuba intro, nightly entertainment
  • What You Can Add Extra: some Ayurvedic and holistic treatments (still at an affordable price compared to other resorts), Skin Clinic products, certain specialty programs, offsite hikes like to the Pitons, high-end wine, some premium dinner dishes, boutique, laundry

Why You Should Book Through a Virtuoso Advisor

Booking BodyHoliday direct is straightforward, but you’d be leaving a lot on the table. There’s real value in booking through a Virtuoso advisor. When I checked out, I tallied up what the Virtuoso perks added to my stay – the sunset cruise, the additional spa treatment on the day I checked out, the $100 room credit, and complimentary wellness consultation, the room upgrade – this was easily thousands of dollars in savings. These aren’t theoretical perks – they enhanced my trip and changed what it actually looked like.

Perks of Booking with a Virtuoso Advisor

BodyHoliday St. Lucia is a perfect place to relax
Upgrade on arrival (subject to availability)
$100 USD resort/hotel credit
Additional complimentary 50-minute spa treatment (on arrival or departure day — in addition to daily included treatment)
Complimentary 30-minute fitness session (tennis or golf), once per stay
Complimentary 30-minute Wellness Clinic consultation, once per stay
Invitation to the weekly Friday Sunset Cruise
Early check-in / late check-out (subject to availability)

These amenities aren’t available when you book directly. If you’re planning a trip to BodyHoliday and want to make sure you’re getting everything that’s on the table, reach out – I’d love to help you plan it.

Before You Arrive – The Checklist

📌Before you Arrive – Checklist

1. Book your TAO, I-TAL and Caribou Windows reservations via the Webroom app
2. RSVP for the Sunset Cruise (or confirm it’s covered in your Virtuoso perks)
3. Pre-schedule spa treatments – aim for 11am-1pm or 2pm windows
4. Schedule your Health Consultation and Ayurvedic Consultation for Day 1
5. Download the BodyHoliday app and activate your Webroom
6. Check which Feature Month programming runs during your stay
7. Ask about themed evening events (white party, etc.)

Pro Tip

Themed Events: Ask before arrival what evening events are happening during your stay. I almost missed the white party entirely, but  lucked into wearing the right thing. Don’t leave it to chance.

Conclusion

Up in the air, St. Lucia glowing green below. The turquoise sea beneath me. It’s bittersweet, as I loved my time there and also knew that three days wasn’t enough. I knew it before I lifted off. But that’s ok, because I know I’ll be like 50%+ of travelers who return. I will be back.

Sunset from I-TAL at BodyHoliday St. Lucia

Why? The food is better than it should be, the social energy is warmer than expected, the spa value is genuinely exceptional, and the island is beautiful. Whether you go solo, with girlfriends, as a couple, or on a multi-gen trip, you will enjoy yourself. There’s something for nearly anyone who wants a wellness trip without having to be a wellness person.

I hope this BodyHoliday St. Lucia review helped you. If BodyHoliday is calling your name (and I have a feeling it is) I’d love to help you plan it. Reach out, as this is one I’ll happily book again and again.

Wherever you go, however you do it, I want you to have a trip to remember.

Happy travels, kindreds!
